Senior Principal Scientist - Global Biologics, Swine

Overview

In this role you drive the design and execution of swine vaccine clinical studies to support regulatory approvals and product registrations. You will work within the Swine Biologics group to develop models and conduct hypothesis-based research across GLP/GCP-compliant studies. You'll lead cross-functional teams, mentor colleagues, and communicate study outcomes to internal and regulatory stakeholders. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position at Zoetis' Kalamazoo R&D site with significant opportunity to shape global swine vaccine development.

Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct clinical studies and programs for swine vaccine projects, including protocol development, monitoring, data analysis, and regulatory dossier writing
  • Develop swine infectious disease models to support vaccine efficacy testing and assess vaccine safety in appropriate age animals
  • Ensure studies comply with SOPs, corporate policies, regulatory guidelines (GCP/GLP), and applicable regulations; engage in GLP work when needed
  • Collaborate with Clinical, Project, and Regulatory teams to track progress, manage resources, timelines, and budgets, and resolve constraints
  • Support regulatory submissions by preparing data and reports for global agencies in collaboration with Regulatory Affairs
  • Organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; communicate study status and outcomes to stakeholders
  • Provide observations and hands-on expertise at laboratory and field study sites; occasional travel required
  • Prepare internal and external presentations/publications to support goals; contribute to team and mentoring efforts
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for study coordination and communication
Key requirements
  • DVM/VMD or equivalent with swine health experience
  • Preferred: 3 years as a swine practitioner or related swine health/production experience; or advanced degree (PhD/MS) in swine health or production animal discipline; experience in clinical development in the Animal Health industry
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements and dossier preparation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite
