Overview

As a Senior Land Consultant at WSP Land, you will secure land, access, and approvals for major infrastructure across Ireland and the UK, working with a multidisciplinary team to align land strategies with engineering and planning. You'll mentor junior staff, lead land referencing and acquisitions, and advise clients on risks and opportunities. The role combines stakeholder engagement, statutory processes, and data-driven land management to support project delivery and net-zero energy goals. This is a chance to influence landmark projects and shape a growing Land team culture.

Responsibilities
  • secure land, land access, and surveys; build relationships with landowners and stakeholders
  • lead audits and QA of land referencing documentation and processes
  • drive integration of land requirements with engineering, planning, and environmental strategies
  • provide senior-level client advisory on land acquisition risks and opportunities
  • oversee compliance with statutory processes and regulatory obligations including data security and privacy
  • resolve disputes with diplomacy and authority; escalate sensitive issues
  • contribute to commercial strategy and risk management for land-related contracts
  • establish training programmes and succession planning within the Land team
  • manage and develop junior team members; deliver CPD and Land Academy activities
  • negotiate Heads of Terms to secure land for projects
  • coordinate with landowners, agents, legal reps, planning authorities, contractors, and clients
  • collaborate with internal and external engineering, environmental, and planning teams
  • promote efficient practices and innovation across multi-disciplinary project teams
  • support business development and delivery of the business strategy
  • travel across Ireland/UK; potential travel to GCC in India
Key requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in Geography, Land/Estate Management, Agriculture or a relevant discipline
  • experience delivering land referencing, land access, and landowner engagement on major infrastructure projects
  • experience negotiating with landowners and knowledge of wayleaves/easements/servitudes desirable
  • experience working with multi-disciplinary teams across Ireland and/or UK
  • proven track record of reducing land risk for clients and advising on land matters through all project stages
  • experience of developing Orders or equivalent and acquiring land rights; knowledge of relevant legislation
  • infrastructure sector experience (energy, highways, rail, water, aviation)
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence and negotiate
