Construction Manager/Resident Engineer (Passenger Rail/Transit Systems)

Overview

In this role you drive construction execution for substation facilities within rail transit systems, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring schedule, cost, and quality objectives. You'll work closely with the project team to implement procedures, manage procurement, and monitor safety and compliance. HDR's employee-owned culture supports collaboration and accountability as you help deliver safe, sustainable mobility projects. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate subcontractors, scheduling, and quality for rail transit substations
  • Develop and implement field execution procedures with the project team
  • Manage procurement activities including schedules and subcontract scopes
  • Perform constructability, value engineering reviews, and cost/schedule analyses
  • Administer construction activities and monitor design progress against construction needs
  • Coordinate bidding efforts and field quotes
  • Prepare and review submittals; manage budget and schedule reports
  • Ensure health and safety program compliance and inspections
  • Prepare project schedules, pay requests, and progress reports
  • Maintain communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage project setup, temporary facilities, and other duties as needed
Key requirements
  • 10+ years in construction planning and management including contracts, change management, scheduling, cost and quality control
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; construction mgmt software (Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam)
  • Strong people skills and stakeholder engagement ability
  • Active participation in employee-owned culture; alignment with HDR values
  • PMP and/or CCM certifications preferred; PE licensure desired but not required
  • Prior rail transit agency or related experience; experience with electrical/communication systems installations
  • Experience with estimating software (Timberline) and scheduling software (Primavera, SureTrak)
  • Pre-employment drug test and government background check requirements
