Overview As Test Architect, you set the technical direction for end-to-end automated testing of Heartflow's SaMD pipeline, shaping AI-first test automation and scalable validation. You lead the architecture for testing across frontend, backend, 3D modeling, and AI/ML systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and audit-ready evidence. This role combines hands-on framework design with strategic leadership to scale a growing, AI-driven medical technology platform. You will work closely with engineering and RA/QA to drive quality at scale.

Responsibilities- Define and evolve end-to-end test automation strategy and architecture to scale with the platform
- Lead AI-first testing approaches including AI-assisted authoring, self-healing locators, and LLM-driven triage
- Own post-deployment testing capabilities: production smoke, synthetic monitoring, continuous validation
- Calibrate test depth for safety-critical components and provide evidence-led verification
- Author complex test plans, protocols, and audit-ready reports under QMS
- Lead tool validation strategy for test infrastructure and compliance with regulatory expectations
- Architect and improve UI and mobile automation (Selenium, Playwright) for cross-product stability
- Define API/contract testing standards (REST Assured, Postman, Karate, Pact)
- Set testing standards for medical imaging and clinical data interoperability
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and RA/QA to translate requirements into verifiable test strategies
- Ensure traceability from requirements to automated tests and evidence
- Lead root-cause investigations and implement systemic prevention
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD for fast, reliable feedback
- Serve as owner for quality audits, CAPAs, and regulatory submissions
- Mentor engineers, lead technical reviews, and grow team depth
- Contribute to hiring profiles and interview planning
- Influence cross-functional decisions on quality strategy and tooling improvements
Key requirements- 8-12 years in software test engineering or related roles with hands-on leadership
- Significant experience testing SaMD or regulated medical device software and ownership of test strategy
- Deep knowledge of medical device QMS and standards (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, 21 CFR Part 820)
- Expert proficiency with Selenium/WebDriver and Playwright (architecture, scalability, parallelism)
- Experience designing and maintaining E2E automation frameworks for complex systems
- Experience defining test plans with rigorous traceability across requirements, tests, and evidence
- Proven leadership in AI-assisted testing tools and techniques (AI authoring, self-healing, LLM-driven triage)
- Strong programming skills (Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C#)
- Experience with API/contract testing (REST Assured, Postman, Karate, Pact)
- CI/CD integration experience and cloud (AWS)
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills
