Responsibilities- Develop and negotiate business plans for assigned programs, including new business, renewals, and retentions to meet profit objectives
- Participate in Underwriting Quality Reviews and perform additional file reviews as needed
- Position program growth in rate-adequate jurisdictions and set prices technically
- Chair Stewardship meetings and coordinate program activities
- Identify and market new products to enhance client portfolios
- Incorporate data and analytics to manage programs and achieve profitability
- Monitor renewals, rate targets, retentions, trends, and lost business monthly
- Resolve commission exceptions for assigned programs
- Understand industries and exposures; update eligibility and coverages to minimize adverse outcomes
- Guide Program Administrators on risk selection, pricing, and coverage terms in line with authorities
- Manage authority delegated to underwriters and oversee peers reviews
- Develop knowledge of AIG operating systems (rating and policy issuance) at the PA level
- Understand and minimize AAL for each program
- Develop line-of-business expertise for assigned programs
- Identify trends in program profiles and implement measures to protect portfolio
- Provide recommendations during account referrals based on LOB changes
- Ensure underwriting expectations are met and manage underwriting authority and reviews
- Review and approve account referrals exceeding Program Administrator authority
- Participate in industry training and associations to stay current on market trends
- Collaborate with Actuarial, Accounting, Claims, Operations, Program Development, Risk Management, and Underwriting
- Oversee implementation of new business programs with Operations and IT
- Maintain market intelligence through conferences, trade shows, and external collaboration
- Coordinate with Product Development on policy form, rule, and rate changes
- Deliver superior customer service and maintain relationships with Program Administrators through on-site visits and calls
Key requirements- 10+ years of Commercial Underwriting experience focused on Multi Line Package portfolio management
- Ability to influence others with strong communication, relationship management, organizational and analytical skills
- Proficiency with AIG policy rating/issuance platforms (e.g., Cover-All)
- Working knowledge of ISO, admitted and nonadmitted product execution
- Understanding of manuscript, admitted form language and policy coverage analysis
- Ability to use analytical tools, reports and technology
- Adaptability in a dynamic environment and collaborative approach to delivering solutions
- Flexibility, willingness to learn on the job and a can-do attitude
