Overview As a Senior Investment Management Operations & Distribution Platform Architect, you lead the target-state architecture and modernization of Schwab's mid- to back-office and distribution ecosystems. You will drive enterprise-wide platform strategy, governance, and integration with operations, CRM, data, and investment platforms to support ETFs, mutual funds, SMAs, and alternative investments. You'll work closely with business, product, and engineering leaders to deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions that advance Schwab Asset Management's strategic objectives. This role offers high-impact leadership in a complex, data-driven, investment-management environment.

Responsibilities- Define and evolve target-state architecture and multi-year roadmaps aligned to business and regulatory requirements
- Lead architecture governance, design reviews, and platform modernization across the portfolio
- Drive operating model transformation, shared services adoption, and rationalization of redundant technologies
- Establish architecture principles, reference architectures, and reusable platform capabilities for scalability and reuse
- Lead major architecture decisions for strategic initiatives ensuring cross-domain alignment
- Simplify legacy landscapes and accelerate adoption of cloud-native architectures
- Support investment operations and distribution domains including trade lifecycle, middle office, performance analytics, and client onboarding
Key requirements- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture
- Experience in Asset Management Operations, Sales & Marketing technology
- Leadership of architecture for vendor-based platforms, SaaS ecosystems, and build vs buy decisions
- Proven track record in large-scale platform architecture and modernization
- Agile and product-centric delivery experience
- Hands-on leadership in implementation with strategic thinking
- Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot/Spring Cloud), .NET/C#, or Python
- Expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, API design, and distributed systems
- Cloud architecture experience on GCP (preferred) or AWS
- Cloud-native technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Data architecture and analytics platform experience (Snowflake, SQL Server)
- Experience with Salesforce and related data integrations
- Familiarity with DevOps toolchains (Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins)
- Knowledge of AI/ML architecture, deployment, and governance frameworks
