Overview In this role you will conduct advanced transmission studies and provide technical and economic analyses to support client decisions. You will work within the Transmission Planning and Power Systems Analysis team to deliver reliable, future-ready grid solutions for utilities and other stakeholders. You will tackle diverse analysis tasks across power systems, staying aligned with regulatory requirements and client objectives. This opportunity lets you shape planning studies, mentor teams, and contribute to critical infrastructure projects at scale.
Responsibilities- Perform power flow, transient stability, transfer capability, short-circuit, voltage, harmonics, electromagnetic, reliability, and congestion management studies
- Assess regulatory conditions and risks under NERC, FERC, and regional requirements; production costing and generator interconnection principles
- Independently execute planning studies using PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, Promod
- Develop life-cycle cost analyses including capital and O&M costs and forecasts
- Conduct risk assessments related to regulatory policies and technical constraints
- Produce financial analyses using analytical software; develop technical reports and presentations
- Support project managers with client deliverables, proposals, and business development
- Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and planning sessions
- Comply with company policies and quality standards
- Travel as required and manage multiple projects concurrently
- Mentor and train consultants and analysts in transmission planning studies
Key requirements- Bachelor in Engineering or related field (ABET-accredited) with 3 years of experience, or Master's in engineering or business with 2 years, or PhD with 1 year
- Experience with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting
- Experience with power system planning and operations; analysis of stability, short circuit, voltage, NERC/FERC/regional requirements, production costing, risk assessment, TPL, generator interconnection, or harmonics
- Strong computer skills with PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, Promod
- Knowledge of US power regions/ISOs (PJM, MISO, NYISO, CAISO, WECC, ERCOT, etc.)
- PE license preferred
