Overview As Southern California Area Manager for our Construction Management Group, you lead a team delivering high-impact water/wastewater projects. You'll manage scope, schedule, and budget while cultivating client relationships and cross-unit collaboration. You drive staffing, training, and risk management to ensure safe, on-time, within-budget outcomes. Responsibilities- Lead area CM staff to achieve program/project objectives within company policies
- Develop and maintain long-term client relationships
- Own profit & loss for the regional CM group
- Support on-site CM staff to optimize time, cost, and quality
- Oversee construction managers, resident engineers/reps, inspectors, and support staff
- Foster cross-unit collaboration to deliver CM services
- Deploy solutions for key issues and enforce internal processes
- Manage multiple large, complex initiatives and teams
- Staff projects with appropriate resources and capabilities
- Establish and implement training programs for CM and inspection staff
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication and negotiation
- Promote health and safety compliance
- Lead development of project/program proposals and marketing materials
- Develop and pursue new project leads and opportunities
- Lead CMS group strategies for market entry and project focus
Key requirements- Thorough understanding of construction management processes
- Strong financial understanding of CM
- Ability to work independently with strong personnel management
- Effective communication with clients, contractors, and project teams
- Detail-oriented, organized, and thorough
- Team-oriented with clear communication to lead engineer, clients, and contractors
- Highly motivated self-starter with quick learning ability
- Knowledge of Primavera P6 and Bentley PWCM (EADOC)
- Advanced knowledge of construction methods, standards, specifications, and plans
- Strong oral and written communications
- Strong computer and internet skills
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Minimum 10 years' experience managing water/wastewater facilities construction; last 5 years with projects > $15 million
