Senior Electrical Designer (Revit)

Overview

In this role you help design and develop complex electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities, collaborating with engineers and designers across multidisciplinary teams. You'll work with Revit and AutoCAD to deliver compliant electrical layouts and drawings while mentoring newer staff. The role involves field data gathering, cross-discipline model coordination, and ensuring designs meet project gates and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on position with meaningful impact on infrastructure and the environment, offering growth through BIM-enabled design and project leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Execute electrical drawing development tasks
  • Perform cable tray and conduit design
  • Assist with layout of electrical equipment
  • Carry out lighting, devices, and circuit design
  • Develop competence in Revit/AutoCAD
  • Actively engage in cross-discipline model coordination
  • Understand the level of detail required at project design gates/milestones
  • Manage schedules related to electrical equipment and panels
  • Mentorship and knowledge-sharing to support less experienced team members
Key requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years of electrical design or related experience
  • 8+ years preferred experience in power distribution, equipment/layout, lighting, controls, and grounding in an industrial setting
  • Field data gathering experience onsite
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit; 3D/BIM experience with REVIT preferred
  • Experience with 3D modeling in REVIT; AutoCAD Plant 3D or Bentley OpenPlant PID for P&ID
  • Knowledge of drafting standards used by large municipal organizations
  • Strong understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E
  • Experience with SQL database-oriented data management in production drawings
  • Effective communication and writing skills
  • Willingness to travel for field data gathering
  • Ability to supervise/mentor junior staff
  • Education: Associate degree in electrical engineering technology or related field or equivalent experience
