Overview

As a Service Partner/Junior Partner, you will lead lender-focused matters in distressed credit and recovery, advising banks and servicers on workouts, restructurings, and enforcement. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to protect collateral, maximize recovery, and craft practical strategies for troubled assets. You will engage sophisticated institutional clients and contribute to a growing national practice focused on creditor rights and recovery initiatives. This role offers leadership opportunities and the chance to expand a lender-centric book of business.

Responsibilities
  • Advise lenders and special servicers on distressed loans and borrower situations
  • Negotiate and document loan workout agreements, restructurings, forbearance, modifications, and payment plans
  • Analyze and protect/enhance lender collateral positions
  • Counsel on loss mitigation, portfolio recovery, creditor rights, and enforcement options
  • Develop and implement recovery strategies for distressed assets and non-performing loans
  • Handle matters involving receiverships, foreclosures, and UCC Article 9 remedies
  • Draft and negotiate complex workout, restructuring, servicing, and enforcement documentation
  • Collaborate with servicing, asset management, special assets, and recovery teams
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to sophisticated institutional lender clients
Key requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission
  • Ten or more years of relevant experience
  • Significant experience representing banks, financial institutions, lenders, investors, loan servicers, special servicers, or other creditors
  • Experience advising on distressed loans, troubled borrowers, default servicing, loss mitigation, and recovery initiatives
  • Experience negotiating, documenting, and understanding: loan workouts, restructurings, forbearance, modifications, payment plans, collateral negotiations and enhancements, pooling and servicing agreements
  • Experience managing distressed loan portfolios and counseling on recovery strategies, creditor rights, and enforcement options
  • Working knowledge of complex Chapter 11 cases, Sub-Chapter V, receiverships, foreclosures, UCC Article 9 remedies, collateral disposition strategies, asset recovery
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and client counseling skills
