Overview You join a growing underground design and construction practice within a global engineering firm to deliver 2.4kV-345kV underground transmission and distribution projects. You'll work with a multi-disciplinary team to translate client needs into feasible, cost-conscious designs and construction packages. You will help expand client relationships, support business development, and contribute to continuous improvement and thought leadership. This role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle and the chance to shape the future grid with a leading firm.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with design teams (2-10 engineers) and cross-functional groups (construction, procurement, permitting) to execute underground T&D projects
- Develop new clients and strengthen relationships with existing clients at local and national levels
- Support business development initiatives across North America
- Contribute to thought leadership through conferences, marketing, and internal initiatives
- Prepare distribution and transmission construction packages for underground projects (manhole/equipment installation, conduit/duct bank design, feeder design)
- Create routing analyses for low to high-voltage lines using CADD/GIS tools
- Assess construction feasibility via route studies, conflict analyses, and cost estimation
- Perform field inspections and measurements for overhead/underground facilities
- Use simulation tools to evaluate scenarios and advise clients
- Produce reports and visuals to communicate technical results and trends
- Ensure deliverables meet client satisfaction and QA/QC guidelines
- Draft calculations and assist with equipment specs (cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading)
- Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and execution schedules
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff
- Engage with clients and subcontractors regularly

Key requirements- ABET-accredited degree in Civil/Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related Engineering Technology)
- 3 years of relevant engineering experience
- FE exam completed or in progress (EIT) preferred; PE is a plus
- Strong knowledge of underground construction methods and electrical systems
- Experience or familiarity with trenchless technologies and related calculations
- Experience with GIS/CADD and AutoCAD Civil 3D (plus)
- Field inspection or on-site construction support experience (plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of NESC guidelines (plus)
