Overview

In this role you drive VDC/BIM execution on assigned projects, acting as the BIM/VDC Model Administrator. You implement BIM/VDC processes in projects and support field construction activities, while also training staff and promoting BIM/VDC services. You will present BIM projects externally and stay aligned with market activity. You contribute to model creation, quality assurance, scheduling (4D) and coordination efforts, shaping project delivery and efficiency within an employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as BIM/VDC Model Administrator on projects
  • Implement BIM/VDC processes on projects
  • Support field BIM/VDC activities at the jobsite
  • Train BIM/VDC staff on projects
  • Market BIM/VDC services internally and externally
  • Present BIM/VDC projects at conferences and forums
  • Create and validate models (site, structure, MEP/FP)
  • Perform model revisions and manage distribution
  • Create custom model components and families
  • Create and maintain 4D schedules
  • Develop and maintain BIM/VDC coordination schedules
  • Lead/Manage BIM/VDC coordination, identify conflicts and resolve
  • Track and report BIM/VDC coordination progress
  • Prepare coordination meeting minutes
  • Assist in shop/field drawing production and review
  • Create dimensioned drawings for field use
  • Support BIM/VDC layout and field as-built verification
  • Validate model accuracy for quantity takeoff
  • Create model-based quantity surveys for estimate verification
  • Model components for accurate quantity takeoff
  • Support FM implementation strategy for Owner's needs
  • Assist in training Owner's FM staff on FM software/workflows
Key requirements
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or completion of Construction Management Certificate Program or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of project engineering experience (Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or equivalent)
  • Thorough knowledge of construction-related BIM/VDC processes and software
  • General understanding of project delivery methods and their impact on BIM/VDC (CMR, DBB, IPD)
  • Strong problem solving, communication and public speaking skills
  • Thorough understanding of construction terminology, materials, systems, drawings and specifications
  • Thorough understanding of scheduling concepts and construction sequencing
  • Thorough understanding of quality control principles
