Job description

Overview

In this role you will advance CT imaging quality by developing physics-based corrections and photon-counting approaches within a cross-functional imaging physics team. You will lead end-to-end innovations across image formation, reconstruction, and calibration to improve CT performance for clinical and research use. You'll work with MATLAB and Python, and contribute to simulation tools, AI-ready methods, and regulatory engagements. This is a mission-driven opportunity to shape next-gen spectral/dual-energy CT and material differentiation at scale.

Compensation / Benefits
  • generous PTO
  • 401k with match
  • HSA with company contribution
  • stock purchase plan
  • education reimbursement
  • Total Rewards benefits
Responsibilities
  • Develop physics-based solutions and corrections to improve CT image quality; lead photon-counting system initiatives
  • Apply system-level engineering to CT/X-ray imaging features, focusing on signal processing, reconstruction, and calibration
  • Investigate image quality issues during product introduction and post-installation; communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Develop and enhance R&D tools for physics-based simulation and image formation (benchmarks, dataflow, specs)
  • Maintain deep CT physics expertise, incl. photon counting, spectral/multi-energy CT, and cone-beam CT
  • Drive the CT imaging physics roadmap; align with clinical, marketing, and systems teams
  • Stay current on AI/deep learning; contribute to IP/publications; represent the company in regulatory/industry engagements
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of combined professional and graduate research in Physics/Medical Imaging (CT/X-ray preferred)
  • PhD in Physics (or related field) with background in medical image formation/reconstruction
  • Strong expertise in CT/X-ray imaging, signal/image processing, reconstruction, calibration, and systems-level understanding
  • Experience with photon counting and/or spectral CT; cone-beam CT; physics-based simulation; hands-on prototype/scanner work
  • Proficiency in MATLAB (primary) and Python; C++ (preferred); GUI and C-MEX experience; familiarity with AI/deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to document and explain complex algorithms and trade-offs to non-specialists
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
