Technical Computing Architect (Senior or Lead)

Overview

As Technical Computing Architect you lead a multi-disciplinary team to design, validate, and operate computing platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. You'll drive the technical vision for Mission Operations, tackle hard engineering challenges, and ensure secure, scalable solutions for government and commercial customers. You'll mentor engineers, coordinate Jira work items, and stay current with new technologies to improve programs. This is a hands-on leadership role at Boeing's Mission Operations team in Herndon, VA.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for the program's vision in collaboration with the Portfolio Chief Engineer
  • Promote engineering processes and best practices across the portfolio
  • Ensure consistent design and implementation across features
  • Coordinate epics, tasks, and sub-tasks in Jira and document progress
  • Resolve the hardest technical issues and capture debugging steps
  • Lead design, implementation, testing, and deployment of computing solutions
  • Support project and program management with the Portfolio Chief Engineer
  • Stay current with technologies, trends, and security practices to continuously improve
  • Oversee design, validation, and configuration of computing systems (on-prem and cloud)
Key requirements
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • 5+ years of related experience (Level 4) or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in Software, Solutions Architecture, Cloud Engineering, and/or Systems Administration
  • Strong knowledge of systems architecture, security, and compliance
  • Experience with Windows and Linux servers, networking basics, and core services (AD, DNS, DHCP)
  • Familiarity with on-prem virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, ProxMox, AHV)
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages and problem-solving abilities
