Overview As a Family Law Attorney, you will represent clients in divorce, child custody, and related matters, delivering skilled advocacy with empathy. You'll draft petitions, motions, and settlement agreements while advising clients on options and rights. You will negotiate settlements, handle mediation or litigation, and prepare cases for court. The role supports the firm's family law practice and requires staying current on legal developments. This is a client-centered position with the opportunity for remote or hybrid work within New Jersey.
Responsibilities- Represent clients in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and support matters
- Draft legal documents such as petitions, motions, and settlement agreements
- Advise clients on their rights and options in family law matters
- Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes through mediation or litigation
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in family law
- Prepare and present cases in court, advocating for clients' best interests
- Maintain accurate case files and document all communications with clients and opposing parties
Key requirements- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the state bar and in good standing in New Jersey
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in family law and litigation
- Strong understanding of family law principles and legal procedures
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
