Liability Claims Manager

Overview

In this role, you will lead the Liability Claims operation for a designated office, aligning with CorVel best practices and long-term claims goals. You will partner with cross-functional teams to improve processes, coach staff, and ensure regulatory compliance. You'll oversee complex, high-value claims and strive for efficient, high-quality outcomes. This position offers hybrid work and opportunities to shape claims operations within a national risk-management firm.

Responsibilities
  • Represent the company professionally to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Direct staff performance, development, and retention in the department
  • Ensure compliance with Liability Best Practices and provide ongoing training and evaluations
  • Leverage jurisdictional regulatory knowledge to maintain compliance
  • Oversee staffing, workflow, and capacity planning to sustain operations
  • Develop and implement common claim practices and procedures
  • Review and settle high-dollar or out-of-authority claims
  • Drive operational efficiency, quality, and consistency across processes and systems
  • Ensure adherence to CorVel policies and procedures
  • Travel occasionally for meetings and coverage as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for customer contact, negotiation, and presentations
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and interpretive skills
  • Proven leadership with ability to motivate and deliver results
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks under pressure
  • Diplomacy and composure in stressful situations
  • Computer proficiency and aptitude with common applications
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, project management, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the entire Liability claims administration procedures
  • Bachelor's degree with equivalent industry-related experience and steady advancement in Third Party Liability claims administration
  • Minimum of 6 years' comprehensive Liability administration experience
  • Minimum of 2-4 years recent supervisory or management experience
