Overview In this role you drive the strategy, financial performance, and growth of a regional Excess portfolio within Nationwide's E&S/Specialty team. You will lead broker and program manager relationships, oversee territory-level underwriting results, and shape plans to meet customer service and business goals. You'll operate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on market opportunities, product strategy, and territory management. This is an impact role with a clear path to influence territorial strategy and metrics.

Responsibilities- Risk selection and appetite development for the territory; drive cross-functional product development
- Technical underwriting and policy wording to manage exposure and endorsements
- Broker relations and management, including conflicts resolution and sales support
- Marketing visits and broker conversations to shape appetite and performance
- Territory management of premiums, losses, and submissions; steer broker performance
- Team development and leadership coverage in management's absence
- Production management to meet volume, premium, and loss ratio goals
- Participation in territory strategy development and execution
- Quality control and auditing support
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned
Key requirements- Eight years underwriting experience with large or complex programs
- Excess & Surplus lines experience preferred
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of E&S underwriting policies, rating plans, and reinsurance concepts
- Ability to analyze data, negotiate, and communicate effectively with brokers and internal teams
