Overview In this role you lead a biomarker assay development lab to enable translational decisions across discovery to clinical development. You will guide a high-performing team and collaborate with translational medicine, data science, and cross-functional partners to shape biomarker strategies. You'll work across renal, liver, fibrosis, and emerging diseases to accelerate patient-focused breakthroughs. Responsibilities- Lead development and qualification of biomarker assays for discovery, translational research, and clinical development
- Design fit-for-purpose assay strategies for target engagement, pharmacodynamics, and patient stratification
- Drive lab operations, resource planning, and prioritization to meet portfolio goals
- Build and mentor a high-performing biomarker science team
- Foster excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the lab
- Partner with Translational Medicine, Data Science, and cross-functional teams on biomarker strategies
- Establish and manage external collaborations to access new technologies
- Oversee outsourced assay activities to ensure high-quality translational data
- Provide scientific leadership informing translational plans and clinical development strategies
- Represent the lab in cross-functional forums and contribute to program decisions
Key requirements- PhD, MD, or equivalent in a life sciences discipline
- Extensive experience developing biomarker assays in pharma/biotech
- Deep expertise across cellular, circulating, proteomic, genetic, and genomic biomarker approaches
- Proven success designing, qualifying, and implementing assays for preclinical and clinical studies
- Strong experience with PCR, next-generation sequencing, immunoassays, and mass spectrometry
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and inspire teams within complex matrix organizations
- Experience managing external partners and CROs to deliver outcomes
- Excellent collaboration, scientific communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
