Overview In this HR Director role, you own the full people function at a growing community bank, balancing strategic guidance with hands-on execution. You will shape the people strategy as the primary HR lead in a department-of-one setup, working with the leadership team to support growth. You'll tackle policy, payroll integration, recruitment, employee relations, and compliance to enable a high-performing, compliant workplace. This is a chance to drive impact across the bank by aligning people practices with business objectives.
Responsibilities- Administer core HR functions: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training, benefits administration, compliance, and policy development
- Advise supervisors and senior leadership on hiring, performance issues, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Coach employees and managers on performance, conduct, and workplace concerns
- Ensure consistent policy application and suggest corrective actions
- Administer benefits programs (health, dental, vision, etc.), and coordinate payroll integration
- Manage full recruitment lifecycle: job postings, screening, interviews, references, ATS
- Oversee EEO and affirmative action compliance: planning, documentation, reporting
- Administer FMLA and PTO, including notices, eligibility, and payroll/timekeeping
- Maintain confidential personnel files and required documentation
- Write and maintain job descriptions
- Manage employee uniform program: vendor coordination and inventory
- Consult with external legal counsel on compliance and employment matters
- Complete required BSA/AML training and follow internal policies
Key requirements- 7+ years of progressive HR experience across employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, and compliance
- Banking or financial services background a plus
- Must work independently in a highly autonomous generalist role
- No direct reports but ability to influence HR practice
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience considered
- PHR or SPHR preferred; SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP welcomed
