Overview In this Senior Estimator role you help shape winning bids for heavy civil projects by delivering accurate cost estimates across structural concrete, bridges, and water/wastewater facilities. You will work with operations, project management, and subcontractors in the preconstruction phase to drive competitive pricing and informed decision making. You'll tackle scope definition, quantity takeoffs, pricing, and risk/VE assessments to support a successful bid and smooth handoff. Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil projects
- Define project scope by reviewing drawings, specs, geotechnical reports, and contracts
- Perform quantity takeoffs for structural concrete, earthwork, utilities
- Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor pricing
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Analyze risks, constructability, and value engineering opportunities
- Develop production rates and estimating assumptions for scheduling
- Coordinate bid preparation with project management and operations
- Assist in preparing proposals and bid documentation
- Maintain current market pricing and industry trends
- Build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and owners
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of estimates
Key requirements- 10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction
- Extensive experience estimating structural concrete and public infrastructure projects
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction means/methods, production rates, scheduling, and cost analysis
- Knowledge of local construction markets and subcontractor networks
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
