Overview Senior Counsel - International Trade supports the BA Americas business by steering compliance with trade laws across the US, Canada, and Mexico. You will work within the North America legal team to mitigate regulatory risk in import/export, customs, tariffs, and supply chain operations. The role interfaces with operations, procurement, and cross-border teams to enable compliant, efficient trade in a stainless steel manufacturing context. You will engage with a global legal team to align regional and international trade strategies. This position offers meaningful impact on regional trade performance and regulatory posture.

Responsibilities- Advise on U.S. CBP regulations including HTSUS classification, valuation, and origin determinations; manage audits and documentation with brokers
- Guide Canada & Mexico import/export compliance and USMCA/CUSMA/T-MEC alignment; support cross-border logistics and warehousing
- Counsel on tariffs and trade remedies (AD/CVD, Section 232/301) and coordinate with agencies on investigations
- Oversee FTZ compliance and operations, optimizing benefits for manufacturing and inventory controls
- Ensure export control and sanctions compliance (EAR/ITAR where applicable, OFAC) across NA operations
- Provide supply chain and procurement support; draft/negotiate customs-related contracts; advise on regional sourcing risk
- Develop and maintain international trade compliance programs; conduct audits and deliver training
- Monitor regulatory changes and support regulatory engagement with government and industry groups
- Manage internal investigations and support litigation/disputes related to trade matters across NA
Key requirements- JD and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
- 7+ years in international trade law, preferably in-house or with manufacturing/metals experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. trade laws; familiarity with Canadian and Mexican regimes
- Experience with CBP, Commerce, ITC; coordination with Canadian and Mexican counterparts
- Familiarity with North American manufacturing supply chain environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to translate complex regulations into practical business guidance
