Overview Join our Environmental Practice Group in Chicago as an entry- to mid-level scientist, geologist, or engineer. You will support fieldwork and reporting across IEPA LUST/SRP investigations and Phase I/II ESAs, contributing to high-quality environmental deliverables. You'll work within a collaborative team, handling varied field tasks and data interpretation to meet client needs. This role offers growth, hands-on project experience, and exposure to regulation-driven projects in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities- Support IEPA LUST & SRP investigations and reporting
- Contribute to ASTM Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
- Oversee soil excavation, sampling, and monitoring well installation
- Conduct soil, groundwater, and soil-gas sampling
- Review documents and analyze laboratory data for reports
- Create groundwater elevation contours and geologic cross sections
- Communicate effectively with team, subcontractors, and on-site personnel
Key requirements- BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field
- Proficiency with IEPA TACO
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to travel 40-50% (local, sometimes on short notice)
- Strong Microsoft Office Word and Excel skills
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail
- Commitment to health and safety protocols
- Willingness to work outdoors in diverse climates and at active industrial properties
- Willingness to work outside regular hours as needed
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification a plus
- Proficiency in applying local, federal, and state environmental regulations and ASTM standards
