Overview Lead Estimator at PCL Construction Services supports a national data center unit, driving large-scale cost estimates and win strategies. You will collaborate across teams to develop conceptual and final cost submissions, manage risk and opportunities, and mentor a project-focused estimating team. Responsibilities- Lead medium-to-large estimates or components of large estimates and define the scope
- Develop win strategies and conduct bid evaluation
- Perform full quantity take-offs for labor, equipment, and materials
- Create conceptual estimate proposals and present to management
- Support pursuit process: tender forms, RFIs, and schedule planning
- Conduct risk and opportunity analysis using project knowledge
- Document and archive estimate information for transfer to project team
- Assist bid day activities and support other estimators to close scopes
- Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders to develop site logistics, schedule, budget
- Present final cost estimates for approval before client submission
- Establish critical path for the estimate/pursuit and oversee team work
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent
- 8 years of progressive construction cost estimating experience
- 6-12 months of on-site experience preferred
- Proven success in pursuits up to $150 million
- Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, quality, safety, and timelines
- Strong bid preparation knowledge: takeoffs, subcontractor procurement, pricing, bid closing
- Understanding of market conditions, compensation models, and competitive analysis
- Experience estimating multiple scopes and building conceptual estimates
- Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and subtrade partners
- Working knowledge of estimating software and advanced MS Office skills
