Overview As a Senior Scientist on the Drug Product Team, you will design and execute strategies and experimental plans to advance pivotal and commercial drug products. You will apply deep organic chemistry expertise to develop fast-paced solutions within cross-functional teams, interfacing with multiple Amgen functions. You will summarize findings for regulatory filings and presentations and engage with external industry groups and academic partners. This role connects chemistry, materials properties, and manufacturing insights to deliver solid dosage forms and scalable processes. You will contribute to Amgen's mission to serve patients by shaping formulation science and product development.

Responsibilities- Design and execute experiments to support drug product development objectives
- Summarize results in technical documents, regulatory filings, and presentations
- Interface with DPT and other Amgen functions (e.g., Drug Substance Technologies, QA, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Contract Manufacturing, PK/DM, Clinical Development, Biostatistics)
- Provide technical expertise on structure, reactivity, and physicochemical properties of materials (drug substance, excipients)
- Develop innovative, fast-paced development approaches as part of cross-functional teams
- Engage proactively with external industry groups (IQ Consortium) and university consortia
Key requirements- Bachelor's with 5 years of scientific experience OR Master's with 3 years OR PhD/PharmD/MD with post-doc (or equivalent)
- Strong background in organic chemistry
- Industry experience in pharmaceutical sector, especially with oral solid dosage forms
- Technical proficiency with characterization techniques (XRPD, DSC, TGA, SEM)
- Ability to design and conduct independent formulation research and communicate results effectively
