Overview

As Senior HR Manager at the Stanford VPDOR, you will guide HR strategy for a large, multi-unit research environment. You'll partner with hiring managers to craft job descriptions and steer key talent processes, from salary planning to performance management, with a focus on continuous improvement and servant leadership. You'll translate complex policies into actionable initiatives, collaborating across teams to support 750+ staff. This role offers impact through strategic HR programs that enable Stanford's research mission.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and recruitment plans; explain employment laws, policies, and procedures
  • Provide guidance to leaders during salary planning, performance management, leaves, and change management initiatives
  • Lead HR programs and processes within the department; serve as SME on HR initiatives
  • Provide data analytics, reporting, and specialized HR knowledge to inform leadership decisions
  • Partner with UHR/COE on initiatives and seek opportunities for process improvements
  • Mentor and develop junior HR team members; ensure compliance with Stanford policies and laws
  • Support change management efforts with stakeholder analysis, success measures, risk assessment, and communications strategy
  • Consult on complex compensation matters, salary actions, and incentive programs; oversee salary planning as needed
  • Address disability/leave and workers' compensation matters in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Lead employee engagement projects, survey development, and action planning based on results
  • Develop and analyze HRIS/People Analytics reports; educate managers on analytics
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of HR experience
  • Strong HCM/ATS experience and proficiency with business applications; ability to handle confidential issues
  • Experience leading HR initiatives/programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and faculty; consultative partnership and negotiation skills
  • Data-driven decision making and analytical thinking; ability to translate data into strategy
