Overview

In this role you lead GBP's R&D team to deliver innovative label solutions that meet customer and business needs. You will guide product development, troubleshoot methodology, and steer the new product development process with a focus on execution and risk mitigation. You'll manage a project portfolio to boost performance, quality, and profitability, while aligning across departments and shaping product strategy with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, and suppliers. This is a hands-on leadership role at the core of GBP's innovation in the PSA label space, offering opportunities to influence growth and technology adoption.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the R&D team of engineers/scientists; set goals and provide performance feedback
  • Provide design, troubleshooting, technical support, coaching, and training to team members
  • Drive execution-focused new product development and risk mitigation
  • Manage a project pipeline to improve performance, quality, and economics
  • Lead high-impact development projects and ensure cross-department alignment of priorities
  • Partner with Sales & Marketing to define gaps and growth opportunities in GBP's product portfolio
  • Engage with customers to capture wants, needs and value of new technologies
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Process Engineering on product/process developments and improvements
  • Keep abreast of PSA industry trends through supplier, customer, and industry-event engagement
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science field
  • 5 years R&D experience in pressure-sensitive label materials, label manufacturing or related manufacturing industry
  • 5 years of team leadership experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, development, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all departments and levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; working knowledge of statistical methods; Six Sigma and Lean training a plus
  • Proven project management and critical thinking skills
  • Travel: 20% or less (domestic and/or international)
