Sr. Materials Lifecycle Specialist, WW Sustainability

Overview

In this role you shape sustainable material strategies across Amazon's operations, focusing on environmental and social impacts of commodity supply chains. You'll work within the Worldwide Environment team to design 3-5 year plans, advance materials stewardship, and develop tools to measure risk and impact. You'll partner with Tech and Science teams to enable data-driven decision making and scalable circular economy solutions. This is an opportunity to influence sourcing, recovery pathways, and resilience at scale for a global company.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as an expert on one or more commodity supply chains to assess environmental impacts and craft risk mitigation strategies
  • Lead technical analysis and global dissemination of sustainability guidance for commodity sourcing and end-of-life material recovery
  • Develop 3-5 year strategic plans to improve sourcing practices and reduce environmental impacts
  • Collaborate with Amazon business units and technical teams to execute plans that enable impact avoidance and risk mitigation
  • Work with Tech and Science teams to build tools for impact measurement, lifecycle assessment, and abatement scenario analysis
  • Design and manage pilots for new material production, processing, and recovery technologies and build a business case for scaling
  • Maintain deep technical knowledge of materials innovation, recycling chemistry, industry trends, and sustainability approaches
  • Engage with external stakeholders and industry coalitions to align on best practices and standards
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, chemical, or materials science engineering or related technical field
  • Experience working with a matrixed group of stakeholders to achieve goals
  • Experience building and managing financial models for forecasting and problem solving
  • Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and presenting results to senior leadership
  • Broad knowledge across supply chain traceability, sourcing practices, certifications, regional risks, and environmental tradeoffs
