Overview In this role you will assess and guide complex commercial large loss claims from early stages, combining on-site and virtual reviews to define repair scope and cost strategies. You will deliver well-supported pricing and practical restoration options while coordinating with claims pros, brokers, engineers, and customers. The position emphasizes collaboration, quality in assessments, and alignment with Aviva's best practices across a national, remote-enabled team with travel in Ontario.

Responsibilities- Act as a trusted advisor on complex commercial large loss claims, bringing clarity under time pressure
- Interpret loss information from multiple sources to form a view of damage, work required, and costs
- Shape early-stage claim direction with practical repair strategies and pricing perspectives
- Apply expertise across diverse industries (builders' risk, manufacturing, real estate, hospitality, retail)
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to test assumptions and improve outcomes
- Provide feedback on external consultant deliverables to ensure consistency and quality
- Offer concise input at decision points balancing cost, scope, and timelines
- Review documents and system notes to ensure timely, clear communication
- Deliver professional, responsive service to customers
Key requirements- 10+ years of experience in commercial property construction, cost consulting, estimating, or related field with large loss exposure
- Advanced experience with scoping and estimating using Xactimate
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and repair practices across asset types
- Ability to interpret complex loss scenarios, identify cost drivers, and propose practical solutions
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with high accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication to diverse stakeholders
- Solid understanding of industry standards and best practices (IICRC)
- Experience working with adjusters, engineers, contractors, and external consultants in fast-paced environments
- Strong professional judgment to navigate ambiguity and make balanced decisions
- Ability to build and maintain relationships across internal and external partners
- High accountability, organization, and commitment to quality deliverables
