Overview In this role you help tackle national security policy challenges through advanced analysis and AI-enabled research tools. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to shape methods, interpret results, and communicate findings to policymakers and the public. This position combines rigorous quantitative and qualitative work with opportunities to influence high-impact policy decisions. You will engage in innovative approaches, including modeling, simulation, and AI-driven workflows, to advance RAND's mission of objective, evidence-based insights.

Responsibilities- Analyze complex policy problems using innovative research approaches such as modeling, simulation, and AI-enabled tools
- Conduct research with rigorous quantitative and qualitative methods
- Interpret results to support stakeholder decision-making
- Communicate findings to policymakers and the public through writings and presentations
- Contribute to business development efforts
Key requirements- Technical or methodological skills in design, development, testing, application, or operation of information, communications, space, automation, or AI/machine learning systems
- Experience with cybersecurity, AI-enabled research tools, LLMs, agentic workflows, or human-in-the-loop analytical systems
- Experience with modeling and simulation for complex systems, and with large datasets using data science or ML methods
- Excellent analytic abilities and clear written/spoken English communication; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams; alignment with RAND's values of quality and objectivity
