Transportation Project Architect

Overview

As Transportation Project Architect at HDR, you help design and deliver transportation-oriented spaces that enhance community well-being. You lead multi-disciplinary teams through project phases, ensuring code compliance and high-quality documents. You work closely with clients, agencies, and project managers to coordinate plans, reviews, and changes. Your work shapes transit hubs, facilities, and aviation projects with a focus on resilience and sustainability. This role offers meaningful impact through collaborative, design-driven problem solving.

Responsibilities
  • Lead multidisciplinary design and detailing for architectural projects
  • Coordinate work across teams through multiple project phases
  • Manage client meetings and code compliance reviews with agencies
  • Conduct site work sessions with Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Oversee team workloads to meet documentation deadlines
  • Review documents for cross-disciplinary conflicts and QA/QC
  • Write and edit architectural specifications
  • Coordinate addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders
  • Incorporate agreed changes into documents
  • Lead projects in dual management roles and provide contract administration as needed
  • Apply innovative design concepts to solve problems and develop construction details
  • Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Registered Architect
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and familiar with related tools and processes
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
  • Experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills
