Overview As a Research Specialist at UCSF's Kidney Genetics, Genomics, and Advanced Models Laboratory, you will advance iPSC-derived kidney organoid models to study disease and perform genetic and small-molecule screens. You will work independently and within a multidisciplinary team, applying CRISPR and advanced analytics to improve organoid systems. This role supports career development and reports to the PI, contributing to high-impact kidney disease research.
Responsibilities- Culture and differentiate iPSCs into kidney cell types and organoids
- Develop and optimize organoid models for genetic and small-molecule screens
- Characterize organoids using scRNA-seq and immunofluorescence
- Genetically engineer iPSCs to enable screens in organoids
- Conduct CRISPR screens in kidney organoids
- Collaborate across a multidisciplinary team and present findings
- Prepare manuscripts, grant reports, and presentations
- Independently manage experiments and contribute to experimental design
Key requirements- Significant experience with iPSC culture and generation of iPSC-derived cell types or organoids
- Experience with immunofluorescence
- Genome engineering of in vitro cell types; scRNA-sequencing and CRISPR screens preferred
- Experience level varies by rank: Assistant (master's or bachelor with 3+ years), Associate (master's or 5-10 years), Full Specialist (terminal degree or 10+ years)
