Overview In this role you will lead field operations for gas distribution projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution. You will coordinate crews, subcontractors, and utility partners to deliver mainline and service work, including emergencies, on schedule and within budget. You will uphold safety, document results, and drive continuous improvement across construction practices. You will play a key part in delivering reliable energy and communications services to communities while working with a collaborative, cross functional team. Responsibilities- Supervise gas distribution construction activities (mainline installation, service installations/replacements)
- Coordinate crews and subcontractors and manage field resources
- Oversee safety briefings, audits, and incident investigations to reinforce safety culture
- Monitor cost, productivity, and equipment utilization; review daily reports
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT/PHMSA, and gas utility regulations
- Coordinate with clients, inspectors, municipalities, and permitting agencies for compliance and timely completion
- Manage traffic control, excavation, restoration, and right-of-way
- Document as builts, pressure tests, inspection logs, and material usage
- Assist with scheduling and resource planning of tools, equipment, and fleet
- Promote continuous improvement in construction practices and operational efficiency
Key requirements- Strong knowledge of gas distribution construction methods
- Experience with underground utility construction
- Experience with excavation safety and trenching standards
- Understanding of DOT/PHMSA regulations and gas utility compliance
- Proven ability to manage field crews, subcontractors, and multiple job sites
- Experience with cost tracking, scheduling, and construction reporting systems
- Proficiency with MS Office and construction/project management software
