Overview As a Landscape Architect in HDR's Urban Design, Planning & Landscape Architecture studio, you contribute to designing vibrant public realms that support community well-being. You'll lead and collaborate on multi-disciplinary projects from master planning through construction, shaping spaces like parks, campuses, and streetscapes. You'll communicate visually and coordinate with architects, engineers, and planners to deliver compelling, sustainable solutions. This role offers growth through leadership of projects and mentorship within a collaborative, employee-owned culture.
Responsibilities- Develop site and public realm designs across all project phases, from master planning to construction observation
- Create illustrative 2D/3D concept drawings using digital tools and free-hand techniques
- Engage in zoning approvals, public engagement, design charrettes, and design reviews
- Provide construction observation, including landscape installation and plant selection
- Lead landscape architecture projects and tasks, mentor staff, manage workloads, and coordinate with other disciplines
- Collaborate with architects, planners, engineers on commercial and institutional-scale projects
- Demonstrate strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
Key requirements- 8+ years of experience as a landscape architect/landscape designer
- Licensed landscape architect
- Strong planning and design skills for urban, municipal, and institutional-scale projects
- Experience leading and supporting projects across planning and design phases
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit in construction documentation
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and 3D modeling/rendering tools (Rhino, SketchUp, Grasshopper, VRay, Lumion, Enscape)
- Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary design teams
- Knowledge of construction documentation including site grading, planting design, site layout and detailing, and technical specs
- Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, graphic and organizational skills
- Strong design sensibility with iterative concept exploration across platforms
- Able to prepare site plans and understand grading and drainage principles
