Overview

In this role you will manage and analyze a highly complex book of business, applying advanced underwriting expertise to set pricing and endorsements. You will influence policy and pricing strategy, mentor peers, and collaborate with brokers and agents to grow profitable, high-risk accounts. You will work with cross-functional teams to leverage CNA systems and deliver results that align with the company's risk appetite and regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to shape underwriting practices and support the company's growth in complex segments.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite highly complex risks using diagnostic analysis
  • Develop specialized endorsement language for complex risks
  • Determine pricing for complex risks aligning with compliance and market conditions
  • Recommend underwriting policy and pricing strategy
  • Analyze profitability and prepare management reports
  • Market products through agencies/brokers and maintain broker relationships
  • Stay updated on laws, regulations, and market trends; participate in industry groups
  • Mentor and train less-experienced underwriters
  • Utilize CNA systems for day-to-day activities
  • Lead special underwriting projects and presentations
Key requirements
  • Advanced underwriting expertise and knowledge of insurance principles and procedures
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills with internal and external partners
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of multi-project prioritization
  • Ability to handle ambiguous situations with creative problem-solving
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business software
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred
  • Typically eight years of underwriting experience
