Overview In this CAPEX Category Manager role, you lead strategic sourcing for capital projects, equipment, and construction services at a major plant. You will shape category strategies to drive cost savings, supplier performance, and risk mitigation while partnering with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Finance. The role focuses on supplier management, negotiations, and ensuring timely procurement aligned with project goals. You will work across multiple capital projects to support site performance and long-term growth with a clear impact on manufacturing capability.
Responsibilities- Lead strategic sourcing and procurement for CAPEX projects, plant investments, equipment, construction, and engineering services.
- Manage competitive bid processes (RFIs/RFQs/RFPs), supplier evaluations, and commercial negotiations.
- Develop category strategies targeting cost savings, supplier performance, risk mitigation, and continuity.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, and Projects to support capital investments.
- Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, cost reduction, and process improvements.
- Negotiate contracts aligned with business objectives and project needs.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive accountability for quality, delivery, service, and cost targets.
- Support multiple capital projects simultaneously and manage procurement timelines and stakeholder expectations.
Key requirements- 5+ years in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, project procurement, or related fields in manufacturing, industrial, construction, building materials, chemicals, energy, utilities, or similar.
- Experience sourcing CAPEX spend including capital equipment, construction services, engineering services, infrastructure, or major project spend.
- Proven success in supplier negotiations, sourcing events, and contract execution.
- Experience supporting manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, or capital project environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related discipline preferred.
