Overview

As a Senior Real Estate Appraiser in the Valuation Services Group, you will apply your real estate expertise to multifamily and commercial appraisal assignments, with a focus on properties ranging from 5 to 500 units. You will work with a team that supports appraisers through training, data sources, and software, upholding stringent quality standards. This role develops your real estate experience for broader roles within the firm, while contributing to risk-managed, compliant appraisal reports. You will operate in a high-growth, collaborative environment that values accuracy and credible valuations.

Responsibilities
  • Appraise 5+ unit multifamily, mixed-use, and/or commercial properties to estimate market value for transactions per internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements (USPAP & FIRREA)
  • Interview market participants for rent and sales surveys and subject-property analysis
  • Manage time efficiently to meet service level deadlines
  • Understand building construction types, flood/environmental hazards, earthquake and zoning considerations as relevant
  • Learn and perform administrative tasks that drive the CRE appraisal process
  • Use risk-based decisions and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure reports are complete, accurate, credible, relevant, and reasonable based on sound appraisal methodology
Key requirements
  • Bachelor degree
  • State Certified General Appraiser License
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in appraising multifamily residential, mixed-use, and/or commercial properties
  • Strong analytical, business writing and oral communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Deep knowledge of local real estate market trends and ongoing development of national trends
