Overview In this role you lead ACS's philanthropy, shaping a multi-year fundraising strategy to advance science and empower a global community. You'll partner with the CEO, COO, and the Board to deepen relations, grow the philanthropic pipeline, and build a performance-driven fundraising enterprise. You will oversee major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and donor stewardship, while guiding systems, talent, and cross-functional collaboration. This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on fundraising to achieve ambitious, mission-driven growth.

Responsibilities- Develop and implement a multi-year philanthropic strategy aligned with ACS priorities
- Advise top leadership and governance on philanthropic opportunities and trends
- Lead annual and multi-year fundraising plans, budgets, and performance reporting
- Oversee philanthropy operations, donor services, and analytics to ensure transparency and impact
- Manage a high-capacity donor portfolio targeting seven- to eight-figure gifts
- Design and execute major fundraising campaigns and stewardship programs
- Represent ACS externally to donors, foundations, corporations, and partners
- Expand donor pipelines and cultivate long-term philanthropic growth
- Oversee foundation and corporate relations and strategic funding partnerships
- Build a culture of philanthropy across the organization and ensure cross-functional coordination
- Align philanthropy goals with enterprise strategy and financial planning
- Provide ongoing leadership development and performance management for the philanthropy team
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and financial standards governing charitable activities
- Oversee technology usage (Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) for tracking and analytics
- Lead governance practices and operating standards for philanthropic activities
- Partner with leadership and boards to engage donors and supporters effectively
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience with major gifts
- Proven success leading comprehensive fundraising programs and achieving multi-million goals
- Experience cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, corporations, and scientific stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Experience driving organizational growth or transformation in complex advancement environments
