Overview

As Project Architect Planner at SmithGroup, you will lead urban design and mobility efforts, guiding cross functional teams to deliver high impact projects. You'll maintain client and stakeholder relationships, manage scope and budget, and ensure quality and code compliance. You'll drive project strategy, schedules, and documentation while mentoring team members. This role connects design excellence with complex urban infrastructure, helping shape resilient, livable places. You will operate in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that values innovation and client outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead urban design and mobility projects and coordinate project teams
  • Maintain client, consultant, public agency, and stakeholder relationships to support goals
  • Manage project communications, deliverables, and documentation for quality and contractual compliance
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties to facilitate project execution
  • Provide project leadership by managing scope, budget, schedule, risk, and performance
  • Review schedules and milestones to monitor progress and ensure timely completion
  • Develop proposals and scopes of work for business development
  • Review design drawings and technical documents for quality and code compliance
  • Maintain and update project guidelines, design criteria, and technical standards
  • Deliver presentations to clients and stakeholders to communicate goals and outcomes
  • Guide and mentor project team members and support staffing and development activities
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Architecture
  • California architectural license or ability to obtain
  • LEED AP preferred
  • 8 years of professional experience including large, multi stakeholder projects
  • Experience in transit/rail/mobility and/or large urban design/infrastructure projects
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary engagement skills
  • Strong mentoring, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency or strong familiarity with design and BIM tools listed in ad
