Overview In this role you will serve as the technical authority for chemical processes at the Taunton site, driving technology transfer of new chromatographic products and providing post-launch support. You will work hands-on in a lab, coordinating with R&D, Chemistry Tech Support, and other functions to establish robust manufacturing processes. The position involves travel between Taunton and Milford to collaborate with cross-functional teams. You will troubleshoot complex chemistry challenges, design experiments, and contribute to scale-up and process validation in a fast-paced environment. This is a pivotal role shaping product introductions and manufacturing excellence at Waters Taunton.
Responsibilities- Technology transfer of chromatographic products into Taunton by coordinating with R&D and Chemistry Tech Support
- Establishing, validating, and documenting manufacturing processes, controls, and specifications
- Troubleshooting, supporting, and scaling up new products and processes during and after launch
- Designing experiments, testing hypotheses, and analyzing data to ensure process robustness
- Hands-on manufacturing of reagents, standards, and products in small-scale glassware
- Interdepartmental collaboration to implement new equipment and drive continuous improvements
- Other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Master of Science in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related field with strong problem-solving track record
- 10+ years of industrial or laboratory experience
- Hands-on experience with NPI including technology transfer, scale-up, and process validation
- Proven SME with technical leadership and mentorship able to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
- In-depth knowledge of HPLC; strong theoretical chemistry and analytical skills
- Experience with small-scale glassware reactions and related techniques
- Excellent attention to detail, record-keeping, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with chemical and laboratory safety
- Experience with analytical and purification techniques such as TLC, column chromatography, distillation, recrystallization, sublimation; and data from IR, NMR, Mass Spectrometry
