Overview In this Mechanical Estimator role, you will lead piping-focused estimates for large-scale projects and support maintenance opportunities. You will coordinate with vendors and internal teams to produce complete, competitive proposals and ensure accurate pricing. You will engage with field leadership on constructability and schedules, driving value through thorough bid execution. This position sits at the intersection of preconstruction and field operations, contributing to capital projects and fabrication shop needs. Responsibilities- Receive and organize opportunities, review bid documents, and address missing information or risks with leadership
- Attend bid meetings and site walks to verify scope and quantify requirements
- Set up and manage the estimate, including schedule and responsibility matrix, coordinating with team members
- Ensure pricing reflects current labor, materials, and equipment; discuss value engineering or option pricing with leadership
- Lead internal estimate reviews and assemble bid documents for client submittal
- Coordinate with field management on constructability and scheduling
- Prepare bid/budget documents with clarifications, exclusions, and commercial terms
- Submit bids by deadlines and mentor junior team members
- Adhere to safety, ethics, QA/QC requirements and company policies
- Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisor
Key requirements- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent construction experience
- Minimum 2 years estimating experience or 5+ years in mechanical construction estimating
- Strong conceptual ability with limited information and cross-department familiarity
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with estimating software (HCSS preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple estimates, meet deadlines, and communicate with leadership
