Overview

As Senior Architect at AWS, you will drive architectural design and evaluation for our global data center footprint, delivering resilient, cost-effective systems. You'll lead cross-disciplinary collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and civil teams to standardize designs and resolve critical issues. You'll influence technical decisions, mentor engineers, and contribute to innovation through research and development of new data center technologies. This role offers impact at scale in a fast-growing, inclusive culture that values bold ideas and ownership.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement data center architectural systems across multiple disciplines
  • Lead and initiate projects with broad impact on infrastructure design and innovation
  • Decompose complex problems into clear, actionable solutions
  • Produce clear technical documentation (design specs, diagrams, reports)
  • Drive standardization of data center architectural space
  • Provide technical support for global Large Scale Events (LSEs) and mitigation plans
  • Maintain and host architectural forums for collaboration on data center systems
  • Mentor and support the Data Center Engineering community
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (utilities, manufacturers, vendors, contractors)
  • Ensure adherence to Architectural Basis of Design (BOD) through auditing
Key requirements
  • 6+ years in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
  • 4+ years in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
  • 4+ years in project management or project lead roles (RFQ/RFP, budgeting, coordinating teams)
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, etc.)
  • Experience with design-to-deployment lifecycle for data center equipment and facilities
