On-Site Technical Support Specialist

Overview

In this Field Engineer role, you'll support field operations and planning on a major California infrastructure project. You will work with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure alignment with plans, schedules, and quality. You'll help develop work plans, monitor progress, and address technical issues in real time. The opportunity offers impact on bridges, tunnels, and river crossings, with a strong focus on safety and collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze plans and establish construction schedules aligned with milestones
  • Manage subcontractors for procurement, preconstruction deliverables, and readiness activities
  • Assist in bid packages, quotes, and contract preparation
  • Develop work plans and lead preconstruction coordination meetings
  • Update and circulate schedules and coordinate notifications with teams and agencies
  • Supervise daily field activities to ensure compliance with plans and specs
  • Collaborate with design teams to address technical issues and field changes
  • Assist in subcontract administration including RFIs, submittals, and performance tracking
  • Support monthly progress billing, forecasting, and issue resolution
  • Participate in change orders and claims documentation
  • Foster relationships with owners, subcontractors, and field personnel
  • Enforce jobsite safety standards and productivity expectations
  • Identify evolving site conditions and help develop proactive solutions
  • Assist in permits, crossings, inspections, quality checks, and closeout documents
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience
  • Thorough knowledge of construction safety and OSHA regulations
  • Experience in cost tracking, estimating, forecasting, and contracts
  • Familiarity with CPM scheduling and resource planning preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Primavera P6 experience preferred
  • Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong work ethic and ability to work independently or in a team
