Overview In this role you own the full financial and strategic performance of the Small Commercial line, shaping a scalable, market-leading franchise. You will initially influence strategy across underwriting, pricing, claims, and distribution, then build a dedicated operating model and team. The position focuses on balancing growth with profitability and capital efficiency, driving an early and lasting P&L momentum. You'll work to tighten appetite, improve pricing, and accelerate move toward a fast, data-driven operating model.

Responsibilities- Own Small Commercial P&L metrics (GWP, earned premium, loss ratio, expense ratio, combined ratio) and monitor growth, retention, and mix
- Refine appetite by class, size, industry, geography, and channel; drive rate adequacy with actuarial alignment
- Collaborate with Ops/IT to build a fit-for-purpose small commercial engine (STP, simplified workflows, pre-bind controls)
- Improve cycle times, data capture quality, and customer experience (NPS/CSAT, referral SLAs)
- Partner with Claims to analyze severity drivers, reduce leakage, and feed insights into pricing and underwriting rules
- Phase the organization: assess and later build a dedicated Small Commercial team (product/portfolio, underwriting, analytics)
- Lead governance and decision rights evolution (matrix to full P&L authority)
- Shape underwriting guidelines, authority, and distribution strategy for targeted growth
- Oversee capital deployment decisions (reinsurance, mix management) and expand into adjacent segments or geographies
