Overview In this role you will design, build, and qualify electro-mechanical optical test stations integrated into manufacturing for optical inter-satellite link systems. You will develop end-to-end test architectures simulating operational environments and validate performance across TC/TVAC profiles. You'll lead design validation and root cause analysis of opto-mechanical and electrical failures, driving improvements to increase FPY and production readiness. You will write automation scripts (Python/MATLAB/LabVIEW) and work with cross-functional teams to industrialize testing at scale.

Responsibilities- Design, build, and qualify electro-mechanical optical test stations for manufacturing-line integration and volume production of optical intersatellite link systems
- Develop and execute end-to-end test architectures simulating operational environments for electro-optical systems (TC/TVAC)
- Define and implement DVT plans for optical and opto-mechanical assemblies under environmental stress
- Conduct optical metrology (wavefront error, boresight, radiometric calibration, pointing accuracy) during thermal transitions
- Utilize PCBA-level electrical knowledge to diagnose board-level failures (connectors, solder joints, signal degradation, power integrity)
- Lead RCA for opto-mechanical and electrical failures observed during environmental tests and manufacturing screening
- Drive design corrective actions to improve FPY and feed findings back to hardware design and processes
- Develop measurement processes for volume manufacturing and transfer to production teams
- Write Python/MATLAB/LabVIEW scripts to automate data acquisition, environmental control, and test data analysis
- Analyze test data to identify performance trends and correlate failures to root causes
- Develop and improve optical measurement methods and test station architectures to increase automation, robustness, and throughput
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or equivalent
- Experience with problem solving and root cause analysis
- 4+ years in electro-optical or opto-mechanical systems development across product life cycles
- Experience with lasers, detectors, modulators, optical fiber, testing and characterization
- Experience with optical metrology for component and system test and qualification
- Direct experience running TC and/or TVAC tests for high-precision optical or electro-mechanical systems
- Experience with end-to-end system-level testing in manufacturing or production environments
