Medical Science Liaison - Pipeline, Immunology (Great Lakes)

Overview

As an Immunology Pipeline MSL, you will advance AstraZeneca's immunology programs by engaging scientists, investigators, and healthcare providers to support clinical trials and scientific dialogue. You will work with global and country R&D and medical affairs teams to ensure cohesive external engagement across the portfolio. The role focuses on rheumatology and gastroenterology, driving site strategy, enrollment, and trial outcomes. This position offers field-based collaboration with cross-functional teams to influence protocol design and patient recruitment in multiple AZ studies.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver scientific and medical exchanges at the portfolio level for immunology assets
  • Build non-promotional relationships with investigators, study staff, and referring HCPs at investigational sites
  • Identify engagement opportunities with R&D and medical affairs stakeholders
  • Educate trial sites and physicians on immunology portfolio and study designs
  • Map disease and investigator networks, identify new sites and referral pathways
  • Support feasibility by assessing patient pools, standard-of-care patterns, and competing trials
  • Share insights with R&D to inform protocols, site strategy, and recruitment tactics
  • Collaborate with Site Management and Monitoring to support recruitment and issue resolution
Key requirements
  • Advanced scientific degree (MD/DO/PharmD/PhD/NP/PA-C)
  • Minimum 2 years field medical experience (MSL/Clinical Trial Liaison) or 2 years clinical trial research experience
  • Excellence in scientific communication across diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining medical scientific expertise
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment
  • Ability to travel 50-70% of the time
