San Jose, California

Job description

Overview

In this senior technical leadership role, you will help define and drive the long-term technology roadmap for topological qubits, spanning materials, device physics, and integration. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate concepts into scalable semiconductor solutions and engage with customers and partners to shape joint development. The role combines experimental work, modeling, and prototype evaluation to advance manufacturable quantum technologies. You will influence strategy and set technical standards while mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Define long-term technology roadmaps for topological qubits, including materials, device architectures, and integration strategies
  • Lead development of topological quantum devices with hands-on experiments, simulations, and prototype evaluation
  • Collaborate with device, integration, process, AME, PDK, and test teams to translate concepts into scalable architectures
  • Guide R&D of advanced materials (III V heterostructures, epitaxy, superconductors, topological materials)
  • Contribute to experimental design, data analysis, and learning from failures in quantum devices
  • Define system architectures linking qubits with cryogenic control and read-out electronics
  • Drive modeling and validation to improve coherence, performance, manufacturability, and scalability
  • Translate device innovations into semiconductor-compatible integration (BEOL, superconducting wiring, heterogeneous integration)
  • Establish technical benchmarks, requirements, and success metrics for internal and partner programs
  • Serve as primary technical interface with customers and research partners to shape joint development
  • Lead and contribute to external collaborations, funded programs, and research proposals
  • Communicate strategy, risks, and tradeoffs to leadership and multidisciplinary teams
  • Mentor engineers and establish technical standards across topological quantum R&D
Key requirements
  • 12+ years in quantum devices, semiconductor technologies, or advanced research
  • Deep expertise in topological, superconducting, and quantum system architectures
  • Experience with cryogenic device physics and measurement environments
  • Proven impact on technical strategy, research direction, and roadmaps
  • strong communication of complex technical concepts
  • leadership and mentorship
  • collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams
  • topological quantum devices
  • cryo-phenomena and cryogenic measurement
  • materials science of III V heterostructures and epitaxy
