Overview In this hybrid New York City role, you will support commercial real estate transactions by coordinating and processing title-related activities under underwriting guidance. You'll work closely with underwriters, attorneys, lenders, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate title commitments and timely closing readiness. The position emphasizes meticulous document review, risk identification, and efficient workflow across multiple complex files. You will grow with advanced underwriting concepts in a collaborative, client-service oriented environment. This is a hands-on role with meaningful impact on transaction outcomes and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Open and manage new transaction files and draft preliminary title requirements
- Review purchase/sale/loan documents, affidavits, title documents, surveys for title issues and risk
- Coordinate all aspects of title orders from opening to closing with stakeholders
- Assist senior underwriters by gathering and organizing required documentation
- Order and review due diligence items (title searches, municipal lien reports, UCCs, tax certifications)
- Analyze title searches, surveys, plats, and corporate records to identify defects
- Prepare title commitments, preliminary reports, endorsements, and final policies
- Work with escrow and closing teams to clear title requirements and readiness for closing
- Research public records to resolve curative issues and track outstanding requirements
- Prepare endorsement packages and supporting materials for underwriting review
- Maintain detailed file notes and ensure compliance and audit readiness
- Support post-closing activities including policy issuance and delivery of final documents
- Monitor workflow, prioritize multiple files, and meet deadlines
- Provide administrative and technical support for underwriting projects, audits, and process improvements
- Participate in ongoing training to expand underwriting knowledge and advanced title concepts
Key requirements- 4+ years as commercial title processor, coordinator, assistant underwriter, or similar role
- Experience assisting senior underwriters with complex commercial transactions and insurability evaluation
- Strong understanding of commercial title insurance, underwriting principles, title commitments, surveys, and related docs
- Experience coordinating with lenders, attorneys, agents, buyers, sellers, and other transaction stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively with underwriters, processors, closers, and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills to interpret legal documents and identify title defects or risks
- Proficiency with title insurance production software and industry technology platforms, plus standard office apps
- Excellent written and verbal communication with a client-service mindset
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills for multiple concurrent transactions
