Applied Scientist II, Search Ranking

In this role you will advance search relevance by building and deploying ML-driven ranking models for Amazon's product search. You'll work within a cross-functional team to develop signals, evaluate via offline and online tests, and publish findings to advance state-of-the-art in search. You'll tackle scalable data analysis, prototyping, and production components that impact millions of customers. This is a hands-on, research-driven position in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment in Palo Alto.

• Analyze data and metrics from Amazon product search traffic
• Design, build, and deploy ML solutions to improve search ranking
• Evaluate solutions with offline benchmarks and online A/B tests
• Publish and present work in ML/NLP/IR venues

• PhD, or Master's degree with 4+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field
• Programming experience in Java, C++, Python or related languages
• Experience in algorithms and data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, HPC

• Unix/Linux
• Professional software development experience
• Deep learning model architecture design, training, optimization, and pruning
• ML/DL toolkits: MXNet, TensorFlow, Caffe, PyTorch
• Data analysis and ML for search relevance
• NLP/IR knowledge
