Overview

In this role you manage moderately complex auto/property litigation, shaping defense or settlement strategy and coordinating with defense counsel. You deliver concierge-level member service through proactive communication and empathy, while ensuring regulatory compliance and responsible handling of legal fees. You act as a liaison with members and counsel, guiding cases from strategy to resolution. You'll represent USAA in mediations, conferences, and trials, contributing to efficient, high-quality outcomes that support the member experience and risk governance. This is a hybrid, in-office role located in Chesapeake, VA or San Antonio, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Manage moderately complex auto/property litigation and develop defense/settlement strategies
  • Coordinate with defense counsel to secure timely resolutions
  • Document litigation strategy, budget, negotiation, and decisions
  • Represent USAA at mediations, conferences, and trials
  • Review and approve legal fees and expenses; manage law firm vendors
  • Ensure high levels of member service and clear communications
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce risks
  • Advise members, attorneys, and management on litigation matters
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years related experience
  • 4 years handling liability or litigation experience
  • 2 years customer contact experience
  • Claims adjuster license in assigned state or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • Negotiation and customer service skills
  • Excellent communication and liaison capabilities
  • Knowledge of P&C policies and state regulatory compliance
  • Experience handling large auto, property, or commercial losses
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
