Overview

In this CRE-focused role, you underwrite and prepare credit presentations for complex loans and support Relationship Managers in managing a large CRE portfolio. You analyze market data, assess cash flows and debt structures, and provide timely credit recommendations to safeguard repayment prospects. You work with cross-functional partners to ensure accurate risk ratings, policy compliance, and high-quality underwriting outputs. You'll help deepen CRE client relationships while staying aligned with regulatory and bank guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite complex CRE loans (construction, bridge, permanent) and prepare credit presentations for review
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to monitor a large CRE loan portfolio and deepen client relationships
  • Analyze appraisal, market data, and cash flow to assess market and credit risk; evaluate debt service and risk factors
  • Ensure accurate risk rating, policy exceptions tracking, and proper loan coding in banking systems
  • Monitor borrower financial performance, perform financial statement spreading, and test covenant calculations
  • Identify and communicate credit risk to mitigate within new and existing credits; support loan structure optimizations
  • Assist or supervise other underwriters/credit analysts to ensure timely, high-quality work
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and keep up-to-date on regulatory changes and bank policies
  • Provide coaching or training as subject matter expert and contribute to corporate culture and vision
  • Participate in customer and prospect calls when appropriate
Key requirements
  • 7-10 years of commercial underwriting/credit analysis or relevant lending experience
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong credit quality skills including accounting, financial statement spreading, and cash flow analysis
  • Effective time management and ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and manage internal/external relationships
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, and practices
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel; willingness to travel occasionally
